Ormond Beach Democratic Club hosts Freedom to Read
56 N Halifax Dr
56 North Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach, FL, USA
Organized by
Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club
The Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club, as part of their February meeting, will host a Panel Discussion titled “Freedom to Read: Defending Access in Public Schools” featuring representatives from Citizens for Truth and Justice in Education and the National Coalition Against Censorship Right to Read Network at their February meeting.
The panel aligns with ongoing efforts to combat book banning and defend intellectual freedom in schools. The National Coalition Against Censorship’s Kids’ Right to Read Network (KRRN) has been actively working to support local groups fighting against censorship, documenting over 450 book challenge instances since 2018.
Banned Books are an issue here and now in Volusia County Schools. The current administration and Board have done nothing to solve the problem. This panel discussion – with Q&A from the audience – will explore how we got here and what can be done now. This program is part of the Ormond Beach Area Democratic Club’s monthly meeting.
