Volusia County Democratic Party Calls for Unity on January 6 Anniversary

VOLUSIA COUNTY, FL — As we mark the fourth anniversary of January 6, 2021, the Volusia County Democratic Party reflects on the resilience of our democratic institutions and the importance of peaceful transitions of power. Vice President Kamala Harris will preside over the certification of the presidential election, fulfilling her constitutional duty with dignity and resolve. This process stands in stark contrast to the events of four years ago, demonstrating our nation’s commitment to orderly governance and democratic principles. We acknowledge the historical significance of this moment, as Vice President Harris certifies an election that will result in a change of administration. This act exemplifies the strength of our democratic system and the importance of respecting the will of the American people. The Volusia County Democratic Party calls on all citizens to:

 – Reaffirm our commitment to democratic values and ethical leadership
 – Engage in civic participation through voter registration and support of Democratic candidates
 – Stand united in the face of challenges to our democratic institutions

As we look ahead to the presidential inauguration on January 20, we recognize the complex emotions many Americans are experiencing. The flags will fly at half-staff, symbolizing not just the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, a man of integrity and service, but also the challenges ahead. We encourage our community to channel these feelings into positive action and continued engagement in the democratic process. The Volusia County Democratic Party remains dedicated to building a future rooted in justice, progress, and the principles that have long guided our nation. We invite all Volusia County residents to join us in this ongoing effort to strengthen our democracy and create a more inclusive society.
